First I want to thank all of you who have reached out over the last few weeks to show your support for The Village.
We now have wonderful news to share!
We have been in contact with some like-minded individuals who share our vision and support the endeavors of The Village. Together we are currently looking for a property to re-locate to and expand our services to continue our mission of helping families raise good humans...
Watch this Space! We will update as soon as we have our new location!
Due to unfortunate circumstances, October 26th will be the last day that The Village Work & Play Space will be open to the public at our current location.
We will however be open on October 31st to celebrate Halloween.
For the parents who have become our regular visitors and have supported us over the last few months, we are so very grateful.
We do not know what the future holds for The Village but the fact that we have helped so many of you connect and make friendships, makes this difficult time a little easier to face. We will keep all of you updated as we work through this transition.
“Imagine what our real neighbourhoods would be like if each of us offered, as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person.”
Fred Rogers
First a little history…In January 2019 I began the journey of creating The Village. At the time the vision was to create a social space for families with the added bonus of flexible work space and childminding services. I built The Village based on the concept of imaginative play, inspired by the teachings of the much loved TV show, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. All the toys were reminiscent of a time when things seemed much more simple, allowing children to use their imaginations, rather than rely on batteries and electronics. By July that year, The Village had become a bustling, laughter filled place for Langley families to gather. Unfortunately, just a few short months would pass before COVID restrictions would close the doors of The Village location permanently. As heartbreaking as it was for myself and all the families I served, I remained hopeful that one day The Village would be revived.
So here we are! Our Social Purpose plan has been tweaked and expanded to even better meet the needs of today’s post COVID families.
During COVID, many individuals faced a great deal of mental wellness challenges but none more so than the children of our communities. The fall out of not having social connections was devastating to many and the effects are now being seen within the walls and on the playgrounds of our schools.
The revival of The Village will not only help address some of these issues but will bring options for Work-from-home parents and opportunities for families to interact socially, create their own support villages and continue healing.
The Village Work and Play Space is a versatile establishment that provides a nurturing, imaginative, safe, environment for children while offering convenience and flexibility for parents. Our facility offers a unique combination of co-working space for adults, childminding services, and recreational activities for children. By addressing the growing demand for flexible work arrangements and the challenges parents face, we aim to become a trusted community hub for both families and professionals.
